The Hand Truck 360 and Attachit Strap were designed and patented by our co-founder and Chief Designer, Richard Cortese. Richard is a design engineer by education and trade. His design projects are in place around the world—including Disney World!

Judy manages The Hand Truck Company and strives to provide personalized service for all of our valued customers.
She is proud that The Hand Truck Company is made in the United States and provides patented features not found on other hand trucks and straps. Our medical assessment by a workers comp Occupational Therapist verifies our products as being not only safer to use but will decrease injuries and worker comp claims.
Our products allow team members in businesses of all kinds to move boxes, liquor, wood, appliances and other products safely and efficiently while reducing product damage and increasing worker efficiency.
OUR MISSION
Front-line workers are often injured moving items in tight spaces. The labor shortage is affecting everyone. At The Hand Truck Company, we believe that safety should always come first. OUR STORY
Richard Cortese had to transfer 4’X 8’ sheets of plywood from the storage shed to the garage. Cortese had to hand-carry each individual sheet of plywood out of the storage shed, through the gate, along the side of the house, and finally into the garage.
Cortese, an industrial designer, did some research and found that all hand trucks have wheels that only go forward and backward. So, he designed and patented the versatile Hand Truck 360. By using triggers at hand level, it glides safely in any direction.
After he received his patent, Cortese enlisted the help of his cousin, Judy Kochevar to help with the business side of things and The Hand Truck Company, LLC was founded.
When a Service Master franchisee in Las Vegas was testing the Hand Truck 360, he asked if there was any way a secure strap could be mounted onto the dolly. Taking that as a challenge, Cortese designed and developed a prototype attachable/removable strap mount for the Hand Truck 360.
After more testing, the patented, spring-loaded, adjustable Attachit Strap Pro was designed and manufactured. It fits most basic utility dollies (with an 11”-13” ID) sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Walmart and rented at UHaul. These brands include Dayton, Milwaukee, WESCO, Harper, and more. The PRO comes with a 10’ Erickson retractable ratchet. We also manufacture an Attachit Strap for Magliner hand trucks. Depending on your needs, either an Erickson 10’ retractable ratchet strap is available.
Both the hand truck and strap mounts can be customized to fit our hand truck customers’ needs.
